World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like crit chance and PvE damage.
If the template for upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will gain 3percent of its previous damage for every time it's upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to provide them with a boost in stats or an extra effect. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades also have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before the component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could be prefixed or a suffix that alters the name of the item to which it is applied (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of an item will be dropped during the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear, even when they're not sure how much it will be improved following the reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be costly, and it is possible that the item will become obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that double or even eliminate chance of failure, and a few upgrades that give the benefit of being reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the power of all nodes within the area around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Leveling
The system of upgrading items allows players to improve the performance of certain items by placing upgraded components in them. This is also known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has an amount, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled until they reach a maximum level of ilvl 385. upgrade item requires a different amount of components to be reached and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets leveled up.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level the item, and when enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When an individual player improves the equipment they have it will be replaced by a new item. This means that the same armor piece will get an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a problem because it can cause the item to become more expensive if you don't require it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades. This causes the item to be traded for a new one, which will have the level 1 base, and a different set of bonuses. This can be useful but it should not be repeated often since it can waste resources.
Certain upgrades can boost their value, allowing players to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives a buff if the player is repeatedly in or exits the water. The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to the value of the base item. Premium items could have different upgrade requirements from regular gear. For example they might require less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons.
